The Intake Process
At Good Earth Naturopathic Centre we want you to feel welcome and safe. Here is what you can expect when you call to book an appointment
The first person you will talk to and meet is Beth Hazlitt. Beth is our fabulously organized and efficient Clinic Manager. She will send you the necessary intake forms via email and explain the office policies, procedures and fee schedule.
To ensure efficiency and to maximize your time at the initial visit it is recommended that intake forms be completed prior to arriving on the day of your first visit. Upon booking your initial appointment the appropriate forms will be emailed to you to allow for them to be completed in advance. Your time and honesty in completing these forms is appreciated, as questions are designed to gather all relevant information regarding your current state of health. By thoroughly completing these forms, we can better understand you as a person in order to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan to better help you meet your goals.
If you have any questions while completing the intake form, leave that section blank and we will go through it together in your appointment. If you have any other important medical forms, previous labs, x-rays etc., please make sure to bring a copy of those to your initial appointment.
To your first appointment please bring the following:
- Completed intake forms
- Any recent lab (blood) work or imaging studies (CT, MRI, ultrasound)
- Current supplements and medications including dosages
New patient visits typically last 2 hours. During this appointment a thorough naturopathic assessment of your current health concerns, your medical history and health-related goals is completed as well as a focused physical exam. Individualized naturopathic treatment plans are developed and modified in harmony with your own self-healing processes and cellular requirements on various levels.
Dr. Hazlitt uses auricular medicine as her key diagnostic and therapeutic tool. Auricular medicine is a specialized technique in the field of Bio-energetic Medicine. It is an energetic reflex system in which the pulse and electromagnetic frequencies are used to identify points on the ear that indicate the location of specific imbalances within the body.
A 1 1/2 hour follow-up visit is usually booked 4-6 weeks after the initial visit. All subsequent visits are approximately 1 hour in length as we continue to evaluate your current state of health while guiding your body to do the work to achieve vitality and balance.
Currently, OHIP does not cover visits to a naturopathic doctor. However, most extended healthcare plans include naturopathic medicine, so check with your provider to see the extent of your coverage.
